The 3,200-hectare Dimbangombe Ranch, near Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, is living proof of the effectiveness of Holistic Management and Holistic Planned Grazing. It is home to a large wildlife population, a mixed herd of cattle and goats, and an ever-improving landscape. Managed by our first Hub, the Africa Centre for Holistic Management, our Dimbangombe Campus is an exceptional learning site. The ranch team have developed methods for protecting livestock from predators, such as movable lion-proof night enclosures, and low-stress herding techniques to keep animals bunched, safe, and healthy on an unfenced ranch surrounded by two million hectares of unfenced parks and safari areas.
The Dimbangombe Campus hosts training programs for Savory Hub leaders and Professional network, community leaders, NGO staff, and commercial farmers every year. The community programs use the curriculum developed with Savory Institute to address the specific needs and context of subsistence farmers living and grazing on communal lands.
